For the Love of a Scarf

Years ago, on my second trip to Paris, I noticed something I couldn’t unsee—beautiful, polished French women wearing scarves. Knotted around their delicate necks, tied neatly around ponytails, or wrapped effortlessly around the handles of their designer handbags. They dripped with fashion and class.

Scarves are never truly out of style, but they’re stepping out in full force this spring. Runways were filled with them—draped at the neck, woven through hair, tied at the waist, and looped onto purses. Polka dots, bright colors, classic black, even fringe… they’re all making their way back into stores.

I love the layered look of a scarf paired with necklaces, like I’m wearing in the photo above. This one is vintage—from my mom’s collection, likely circa 1978—and it’s one of my favorites.

You can also wrap a neck scarf around and tuck the ends back in for a clean, effortless finish.

Here are a few more ideas to bring a little fashion-forward flair to your spring.

Belted at the Waist
Loop it through your belt loops or tie it over a dress at the waist. This one feels a little unexpected and very chic.

As a Headband
Fold into a strip and tie at the nape of your neck or slightly to the side. It’s a little French, a little undone—in the best way.

The Classic Neck Tie
Fold your scarf into a triangle or slim band and tie it loosely at your neck. It instantly adds polish—even to a simple tee or button-down.

On Your Handbag
Wrap it around the handle of your favorite bag or tie it in a loose knot. It gives your everyday bag a fresh, styled feel.

Sometimes it’s the smallest pieces that make the biggest difference—and a scarf just might be the easiest way to elevate what you already have in your closet.
